A Little About Me

Texas has been home my entire life. I currently reside in Arlington – home of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. While I love to travel, I can’t imagine living anywhere other than this great state. From the mild winters to the bluebonnets in spring and the unbelievable sunsets, Texas truly is amazing and will always be home for me.

I am a dog mom to Cocoa – a seven year old chihuahua/terrier mix who is as loyal as they come and has a personality as big as the state of Texas. When I’m not decorating or rearranging my decor I also enjoy diy projects, gardening, photography, and reading.

My Passion . . .

For the past 25 years I have worked as an accountant, but the profession does not allow for much creativity (auditors tend to frown on that!). So I have always used home decor as an outlet for my creativity. Several years after first dreaming of a way to share that passion with others, Farmhouse by Design was born. What started off as a small Instagram account has evolved into a place to share my passion for all things home decor and connect with so many wonderful and talented people. As an extension of that I hope to include decor tips, inspiration, recipes, and much more.

The look and feel captured by farmhouse and vintage home decor truly captures my heart. While I may not live on a traditional farm, I find a calm and appeal in the rustic simplicity of farmhouse style. And I believe that farmhouse style can be created. . .by design. It can be a blend of old and new, vintage and rustic, or even a touch of modern. It is a style born of simpler times and one that helps to create a place of calm in my daily life.

My home is truly my sanctuary and I hope to inspire you to make your house into a home – a place of retreat from the sometimes crazy and hectic world we live in.
