I grew up with my traditional nativity scene - Mar

I grew up with my traditional nativity scene - Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus . . .and the wise men right there beside them. During a Biblical history class in graduate school, I learned something that completely reshaped that familiar scene for me: the wise men weren’t actually present the night Jesus was born.

The longer I reflected on that, the more it reminded me that the Christmas story has always been about God drawing people to Himself - right on time, and never a moment too late.

The wise men missed the manger, but they didn't miss the Messiah.

The past several months have been a whirlwind - fu

The past several months have been a whirlwind - full of big changes, new beginnings, and so much grace in between. As life finally starts to slow down a bit, I've felt that gentle nudge to return to something that's always been a creative outlet for me - writing.

I'm so excited to share that my blog, Farmhouse by Design, will be relaunching very soon! This space has always been a reflection of my heart - a blend of faith and farmhouse charm. I'm especially looking forward to writing more about what God's been teaching me lately - those quiet reminders of His goodness in the midst of busy seasons and everyday life.

Everyone, meet Aspen. 🐾 There is a deafening silence in a house after a pet crosses the rainbow bridge. Cocoa can never be replaced, but Aspen can carry on her legacy and is already helping the healing process.

This little one has already made the flight ✈️ from Colorado to her new home in Texas after spending a few days exploring Breckenridge with her new humans. She has already brought so much joy into the house. Her full name is Aspen Rose and she has her own Instagram @aspenroseoftexas. After only a few days with her, I am already convinced she found us when we needed her the most. ❤️🐾❤️

My sweet girl Cocoa crossed over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge a week ago today. I didn’t know my heart could break into so many pieces. She was unwavering in her loyalty, loved fiercely and had the sweetest personality. She loved naps in the sun, barking at anything that moved, and watermelon 🍉 and never left my side!! The house is so quiet without her presence and I miss her every second of the day. She certainly had her little paws 🐾 wrapped tightly around my heart. I know she is running free and at peace. Rest easy sweet girl - you will be forever loved!! ❤️🐾❤️

Hello friends! 🌿 With the start of a new year I wanted to refresh the guest bedroom. I am so excited to add this gorgeous quilt and blanket from @kirklands to this space! I have never used blue in my decor, but I’m obsessed with the farmhouse touch it adds to this room. The quality of the quilt and shams is amazing and the blanket is as soft as it is beautiful. In fact, I might just have to steal this look for the master bedroom now, too!

I wasted no time in tackling the first DIY project of 2020. 🌿 When I took down my Christmas decor in the kitchen this area behind the sink just looked empty and sad. So I decided to add a shelf because you can never have too much open shelving, right? It’s just decorative right now, but I can definitely see the functionality of this space going forward. Or maybe just decorative is good too!! 😊
