Hello friends!! It’s time to start gearing up for all of those Christmas dinners and parties!
No matter how large or small your holiday gatherings, a beautiful table can set the tone for the time you spend with family and friends. The dining table has long been a gathering place and that is certainly the case during the holiday season. And though I love the beauty of an elaborate tablescape, sometimes I just crave some simplicity in my decor. Today I want to walk you through setting a simple, yet beautiful, place setting that will hopefully inspire some ideas for your table this holiday season.

I started with some rattan chargers as the base for my place setting this year. I love the contrast of the brown against the white table. It’s a neutral, warm palette to build on and also brings in a natural feel to the look of the table.
White dishes are what I gravitate toward throughout the year. They work for any decor style and allow you to add color seasonally. Alone, or paired with patterned dishes, they can lighten up the place setting and bring in a clean, crisp farmhouse feel.
On top of the white dinner plates I layered solid red napkins to add in some festive Christmas color. I also added a red striped napkin on top for contrast and to bring in a more vintage, farmhouse feel.
I love the look of greenery in any place setting and I chose a darker hue for the Christmas season. I added mini wreaths to soften the entire place setting and bring in a natural feel. You could also use fresh seasonal greens if you have access to them. They add another natural element to the table and just imagine the aroma of fresh greens filling the house!
Finally, I added these beautiful appetizer plates from the Christmas Hearth and Hand line for a final touch. I love the different words imprinted on each of them and they make a beautiful and unique addition to the overall place setting.
It was important to me to keep the table decor simpler this year. There is a lot going on in this corner with the hutch and trees. The simple table does not compete with the rest of the decor but still makes a statement all on its own.
I love the way the table turned out this year. It is simple and gives off a vintage farmhouse feeling. I hope you will be inspired to create a place setting at your table for the holidays as you enjoy gathering around with loved ones during the season.
Happy Holidays!

Hi, I love your table setting! Can you share where you got your dinner plates? I’m in need of new dishes, the last two sets I’ve had have chipped terribly. Any suggestions on a type or brand would be greatly appreciated.

Love the appetizer plates with inspirational words. Any idea where to purchase?

Hi Sandra,
They were part of the Hearth and Hand Collection at Target a couple of years ago. They may have something similar this year as well.

Hi Sadie,
The Target dollar spot did have some very similar ones this year. I haven’t checked other stores like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby, but they might have something!
